Why Foot Envy Exists
Dr. Craig Udall finished his residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center in 2017 and moved to Arizona to start practicing podiatry. Like a lot of new doctors, he spent his early years working in a busy practice, the kind where patient volume turns medicine into a conveyor belt. New patient visits ran fifteen minutes. Treatment plans often skipped the simpler options. Plenty of people left their appointments unsure of what was actually wrong with them, and more than a few came back later having been told they needed surgery for problems that probably didn't need it.
That's where the idea for Foot Envy came from.
The plan was simple. Patients should see the doctor, not a tech. Visits should be long enough to actually figure out what's going on. People should leave knowing what's wrong and what every reasonable option is. Surgery should be the last conversation in the room, not the first.
That's still how the practice works today.
How We Treat Patients Differently
Most podiatry practices schedule fifteen-minute slots for new patients. We schedule up to a full hour. That extra time is the whole point of the visit.
When you come in with heel pain, we're not going to send you home with a prescription and a quick handshake. We'll look at how you walk, where the pain is sharpest, what your shoes look like underneath, and whether the muscles around your heel are doing what they should. We might tape your foot, fit you with custom orthotics, or walk you through stretches you can do at the kitchen counter. If those steps don't work, we step up to the next option. Surgery is the last rung on the ladder, and most patients never get there.
A few practical things you'll notice that other offices often skip:
In-office digital X-ray. When imaging is needed, it happens during your visit. You don't drive somewhere else and come back another day.
Spanish at every step. Dr. Udall speaks fluent Spanish, so visits can happen in the language you're most comfortable in. Same-week appointments for urgent problems. If you call us about a sudden injury or an infected ingrown toenail, we'll usually see you within a few days.
A real treatment plan, not a checklist. By the time you leave, you'll know what's wrong, why it happened, what we recommend first, and what your other options are if that doesn't work.
Who We Are
Foot Envy was started by Dr. Craig Udall, DPM. The practice is based in Goodyear, on Indian School Road in Suite 880.
Dr. Udall is board certified and fellowship trained. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Western University of College of Podiatric Medicine, then completed his residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS), and he holds hospital privileges at St. Joseph's Westgate Medical Center. He has been treating patients in the West Valley since 2017.
He speaks fluent Spanish. He has five kids. Outside the office he's a Goodyear local who happens to be a foot doctor.
Serving the West Valley
We see patients from across the West Valley every week. Goodyear is our home base, but the families who walk through our door come from Avondale, Buckeye, Litchfield Park, Sun City, Sun City West, Verrado, Estrella, Pebble Creek, Tolleson, and the Luke AFB community.
A few specific things to know depending on where you're coming from:
For our Spanish-speaking neighbors in Tolleson and parts of Avondale, Dr. Udall conducts visits in Spanish. You don't need to bring a translator and you won't lose anything in the explanation.
For families near Luke AFB, we are comfortable working with TRICARE patients and the kinds of foot and ankle concerns that come with active duty service or military retirement. That includes flat feet, deployment-related injuries, and the boots-and-rucks footwear questions we hear often.
For retirees in Sun City and Sun City West, we are a Medicare-friendly office that takes time on the smaller questions, like coverage for custom orthotics, fall prevention, and the kind of chronic foot pain that often comes with age.
For active families in
Verrado,
Estrella, and
Pebble Creek, we treat the kids' sports injuries and the parents' overuse problems with the same conservative approach.
